Banking on Financial Inclusion

< Back

Held at Jackson State University during Black History Month, the Forum brought together more than 200 participants to explore policy, research, and practice focused on strengthening financial inclusion. The program featured keynote remarks from Michael Barr, Vice Chair of Supervision of the Federal Reserve System, who also engaged with HBCU students in Jackson, Mississippi to discuss career pathways in banking and community development.

The Forum included analysis from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Institute for Economic Equity, which presented research on the economic case for an equitable banking system. Additional policy and thought leadership were shared by leaders representing the Delta Regional Authority, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Opportunity Insights, the Urban League, community development financial institutions (CDFIs), and higher education institutions, with a focus on closing persistent banking and capital gaps.
