What’s Happening with the Mississippi Budget?

State General Fund Revenue Estimate: FY 2013 Revised and FY 2014
Recently, Governor Phil Bryant and The Joint Legislative Budget Committee met to discuss the State’s General Fund Revenue Estimate for Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 revised and FY 2014.

The total revised General Fund Revenue Estimate for FY 2013 is $4.9 billion (a 1.4% growth from FY ‘12) and the total General Fund Revenue Estimate for FY 2013 is almost $5 billion.

According to State Economist, Darrin Webb, Mississippi’s economy showed some improvement in the last quarter of this year.  However, the state has yet to see enough growth to confirm that the state has exited the recession.
