2012 Annual Policy Conference Recap

November 7th, 2012

Medicaid Expansion and Financial Inclusion were featured issues at the 2012 Policies for Progress Conference.

During our opening plenary, MEPC Director Ed Sivak and Center on Budget and Policy Priorities Vice President for Health Policy, Judith Solomon sat down together and outline the case for the implementation of this important policy across the nation and in Mississippi.

Earlier this fall, FDIC data revealed that the rates of unbanked and underbanked households in Mississippi is among the highest in the nation. Executive Director of the Aspen Institute’s Initiative for Financial Security, Lisa Mensah’s keynote address focused on the need to create economic opportunity and building assets for underserved populations.

One of the highlights of this year’s conference was the unavailing of our newly redesigned website. We have made some great changes to mepconline.org to make information easier to find and allow you to share content and connect with us in more ways.

If you were unable to attend this year’s conference you can find much of the content from our annual event on the 2012 conference page.

Also at the bottom of the 2012 Conference page is a link to a brief survey so you can tell us about your conference experience. Your comments will help us to shape next year’s conference and provide the most ideal experience possible.

Thank you to everyone who attended and the presenters who shared their knowledge and expertise.
