The HOPE Policy Institute derives its policy priorities and recommendation from the experiences of HOPE members, HOPE’s 25-year track record in community economic development, and empirical analysis of data related to financial inclusion and economic opportunities in the Deep South. HOPE Policy Institute, the policy and advocacy arm of HOPE (Hope Enterprise Corporation / Hope Credit Union), works closely with experts and leaders in the community economic development field.
This includes subject matter experts on mortgage, consumer, auto, and small business lending; community development financing such as New Market Tax Credits, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Opportunity Zones, and Healthy Food Financing; and the unique role of community development financial institutions (CDFIs) in serving the people and communities in our region. In addition, HOPE Policy Institute engages in robust data analysis on issues of financial inclusion, such as un/underbanked communities, student loan debt, predatory lending, and fair housing.
